Celebrating a Skewer-ific Milestone!

If you’ve been to Brisbane City, West End, or Milton Markets, then chances are you’ve been lucky enough to try the mouthwatering dishes from Yakitori Kiku. Now we’re not here just to talk about the skewers- so let’s get to the point (pun intended).

Bringing Authentic Japanese Food to the People

Anzu and Yuma are the dynamic duo behind Yakitori Kiku, and they have captured the hearts (and stomachs) of so many market lovers. Three years ago, they were working full time at a Japanese restaurant on the Gold Coast, spending their weekends at local markets with a dream to bring authentic Japanese Food to the community and this is where they fell in love with the vibrant energy and the inviting atmosphere of the markets.

Turning Dreams into Reality

Fast forward to last year, Anzu and Yuma decided to turn their dream into a reality, quitting their full time jobs and making the move to Brisbane.

They quickly became market regulars with us at Brisbane City, West End and Milton Markets, and the love for their authentic Japanese food, which ranges from viral fruit sandos to drool-worthy mochi and chargrilled yakitori—grew.

If you’ve ever tasted their yakitori, you know why they are skewer-iously loved at the market.

What’s Next for Anzu and Yuma?

Well, Anzu and Yuma have some big news! In early April, they’ll be opening their very own Japanese restaurant in East Brisbane! This exciting next chapter for them comes from their dedication, hard work and success they’ve built at the markets.

Before they kick off their restaurant endeavours , you’ll have one last chance to taste their dishes this Saturday the 15th March at West End Markets. We’re not going to lie—it’s a little bittersweet, but we know it’s just the beginning for them! Anzu and Yuma’s ultimate dream is to keep sharing authentic Japanese flavours they love with even more people so we know they will be back once their restaurant is up and running.

Supporting Local Heroes

At Goodwill Projects, we’re beyond proud to support passionate small business owners like Anzu and Yuma, who’ve poured their heart and soul into their craft. It’s safe to say that they are just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what’s on the cards for them next (really yakitori-ng at the heartstrings here)!

This is your last chance to enjoy their tasty treats this weekend at West End Markets from 6am-2pm and show them some love before they embark on their next adventure. We’re certain this is only the beginning for Yakitori Kiku—after all, its meat to be.
